Figs are well known for their mild laxative effect, so care should be exercised when consuming fig juice. Try a small quantity at first, prepared from two or three fresh figs. The laxative prepared from the more concentrated, dried figs alone is so mild that it is suitable for children, so the action of the fresh fruit should cause you no alarm. However the term, syrup of figs, is often used to describe "Compound Syrup of Figs", this stronger laxative has added senna, rhubarb and cascara extract to make it much stronger.
Fig juice is also recognized for its soothing effect on irritated bronchia: passages. This demulcent action is soothing to the inflamed mucous membranes that produce catarrh during a cold. Fresh figs are a poor source of vitamin C, but they are a better source of vitamin B6 than most other fruits. Figs contain 110 mg of vitamin B6 per 100g.
Figs played an important part in the diet of both the ancient Greeks and Romans. The ancient Greeks fed large quantities to their athletes, the Spartans, in the belief that the fruit encouraged strength and swiftness. The Roman's fed fresh figs to their slaves, particularly the agricultural workers, but dried figs were also widely consumed.

Be watchful for the Return of Jesus, for you do not know when He shall come. But you do know it will be soon, as the Parable of the Fig Tree teaches you. You can see that the summer Jesus spoke of is coming.
"But from the Fig Tree learn the Parable!" Jesus said, "When its branches become tender, and the leaves spring forth, know that summer is near. So also you, when you see all these things, know it is near at the doors.
"Amen I say to you, in no way should this generation pass away until whenever all these things shall come to pass. The Heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my Words in no way shall pass away. But concerning that hour, no one knows, not even the angels of Heaven, only my Father alone.
"And as the days of Noah, so will be also the Coming of the Son of man. For in the days before the Flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until Noah entered into the ark. And they did not know until the Flood came and lifted all. So will be also the Coming of the Son of man. Two will be in the field; one shall be taken and one left. Two women grinding at the mill; one shall be taken and one left.
"Be watchful then--for you know not what hour your Lord comes!"
The prophetic Parable of the Fig Tree tells you when to begin to look for the Return of Jesus. You don't know exactly when it is going to be, but you know to start looking now, because of His Parable. When the Fig Tree starts to bud, you know that summer is near. The Fig Tree is budding today. Summer is approaching, even the "summer" caused by climate change.
Global warming is indeed warming the earth, making spring, fall, and winter more like summer each year. So you know to begin watching for Jesus now. In His Mercy He gave you the Parable of the Fig Tree so when you see temperatures rising, you know the Fig Tree is budding and summer is coming. And you can be sure it is happening because Jesus foretold it.
Jesus also claimed His generation would last until these Last Days, and it has lasted. The generation of Jesus has greatly influenced the world of today, and the Words of Jesus have not passed away.
But the earth and the Heavens are passing away while His Words endure. The resources of the earth are dwindling, and the Heavens immediately surrounding the earth are becoming too polluted with greenhouse gases to keep the balance that sustains life. This does not mean the Paradise of Heaven is passing away. There is still a place for you in Heaven to hope for.
You know that Jesus is coming soon, but you don't know the exact hour He is coming for you. And nobody will be able to tell you this. Only God the Father knows when Jesus is coming for you. So you will watch for His Return.
And there is prophetic significance also in the Way Jesus likened His Return to the days of Noah. Nobody knew the Flood was coming but Noah, and they didn't believe him when he built the ark to prepare to survive the Flood. But the Flood did come as God had promised, and washed away all those sinful unbelievers. Another flood is coming today.
This flood is the rising waters of the End-Times. The sea levels are rising, and soon many coastal areas all around the world will be flooded. This flood will not completely destroy the world but will cause more damage than ever before seen in the history of the world. As the earth warms into the summer, the ice caps at the poles and Greenland are melting, and the sea levels are rising with the extra water and warmth.
You can see the Fig Tree blossoming. You can see the flood waters rising. You have a choice. You can believe Jesus is coming soon and watch for Him. Then you will be prepared for His Return.
Jesus will take one and leave the other when He comes. Your friendships here on earth will not save your friends. And Jesus will choose who He returns for. He will not return unto the entire crowd. He will return to each person individually, and at different times. He will return to one and leave the other, at least for that time. So you will be alone with Jesus when He comes for you.
The Fig Tree is budding. The summer is coming. And the flood is coming. So you know Jesus is coming too, and you will be watching for His Return, waiting for Him to save you in these End-Times.
